Shpella e Fingalit \u00ebsht\u00eb e krijuar t\u00ebr\u00ebsisht nga shtylla me form\u00eb heksagonale (gjasht\u00ebk\u00ebnd\u00ebshe) n\u00eb mes t\u00eb nj\u00eb rrjedhe t\u00eb llav\u00ebs nga Periudha e Paleocenit (66 deri n\u00eb 56 milion\u00eb vjet m\u00eb par\u00eb).<\/p>\n

Fillimisht Shpella e Fingalit ishte pjes\u00eb e pron\u00ebs Ulva, t\u00eb Klanit MacQuarrie (MekKuarri) rreth vitit 1777. Shpella u b\u00eb e njohur p\u00ebr bot\u00ebn anglisht fol\u00ebse n\u00eb vitin 1772 nga natyralisti i shekullit t\u00eb 18-t\u00eb Sir Joseph Banks (S\u00ebr Xhozef Benks). Ajo, m\u00eb pas u b\u00eb e njohur si Shpella e Fingalit sipas emrit t\u00eb heroit n\u00eb poem\u00ebn epike t\u00eb poetit dhe historianit skocez t\u00eb shekullit t\u00eb 18-t\u00eb James Macpherson (Xhejms Mefferson).
